'Transformers 3' Remains No. 1 at North American Box Office



"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" stays strong at the box office. The action movie has ruled the movie chart in the United States and Canada for second week in a row. After topping the list with $97.5 million on Independence Day weekend, it has now reclaimed the hot spot with an additional $47.0 million. 


Internationally, the third installment of the "Transformers" movie franchise added $93 million in ticket sales. This made the Michael Bay-directed movie which pairs up Shia LaBeouf and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley generated a total of $645 million from its worldwide sale since its debut last week. 


Trailing behind the action-packed film were two movies from comedy genre. "Horrible Bosses", which features Jennifer Aniston playing a sex-crazed dentist, bowed at No. 2 with $28 million, while "Zookeeper" which has Kevin James as an animal caretaker follows closely at No. 3 with $21 million. 


Rounding up the top 5 this weekend are former Box Office champion "Cars 2" and former Box Office runner-up "Bad Teacher". The two movies continued to take a tumble at the movie chart. "Cars 2" is now sitting at No. 4 after falling to from the first spot to the second one last week, while "Bad Teacher" is occupying No. 5 after slipping from No. 2 to No. 3.
