Lamar Odom likely didn't expect his day could grow sadder when he was in New York for a cousin's funeral last Thursday, and it in fact did. The car he was riding in on the way to a barbershop collided with a motorcycle, which then struck a teenage pedestrian, who suffered severe head injuries.
The 15-year-old underwent emergency surgery but passed away from the injuries on Monday. A "devastated" Lamar and Khloe have since taken to Twitter to send their condolences to the boy's family.
"Thank you for your support and prayers! My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys family," Lamar tweeted on Monday. Khloe wrote, "My heart/soul goes out 2every1 in pain from any suffering. Pray 4 all of the angels surrounding us constantly. May our spirits stay strong."
Most Twitter followers expressed deep sympathy to Lamar, though some indirectly blamed the Lakers star for the tragedy, leading Khloe to come to her hubby's defense: "Stop judging other people's lives that u know NOTHING about! My husband&I r in NY 4a funeral 4 his fam. Senseless violence is disgusting!!"
