Lindsay Lohan, Selena Gomez and More Pray for Japan

 Rockers, pop stars, and Hollywood actors have united online in their sympathy for the victims of the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan. Hundreds perished on Friday, March 11, when the southeast Asian country suffered an 8.9-magnitude tremor, the sixth worst earthquake on record, sparking an enormous tidal wave that slammed into the eastern coast.

The disaster unfolded live on TV, shocking the watching world, and dozens of stars took to microblogging website Twitter to express their sympathy for the victims. Rock legend Slash writes, "My thoughts & prayers go out to the people in Japan dealing w/the [with the] earthquake, tsunamis & aftershocks. I hope the worst is over."

"My mommy just woke my sister and I up to this! God bless those that are in fear," Lindsay Lohan added and posted a picture of the coverage on news channel CNN. Disney star Selena Gomez, who visited Japan recently, writes, "Wow, I don't even know what to say, Japan. I was just there and you were all so wonderful to me. I am sending all my love, prayers and support".

"Star Trek" legend William Shatner adds, "My heart and prayers go out to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami", and "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria writes, "My prayers are with you Japan!"

"I'm sending my thoughts and prayers and love to those in Japan who are hurting," country singer Taylor Swift writes. Katy Perry writes, "My prayers go out to anyone that is being effected (sic) by the disaster in Japan", and burlesque star Dita Von Teese tweeted, "Sending love and hope for Japan."
