Dum Maro Dum: Dev Anand’s Blessings To Abhishek Bachchan!

Director Rohan Sippy is making a film titled ‘Dum Maro Dum’ with Abhishek Bachchan and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles, this is known by everyone by now. The title of the film reminds us of the popular song ‘Dum Maro Dum’ from the 1971 popular movie Hare Rama Hare Krishna, which starred Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman.
So, as everyone expected director Rohan Sippy wanted to get the rights of the song from the evergreen star Dev Anand. But it was not easy considering the veteran star’s possessiveness about the songs of his films. However, a miracle happened this time when Sippy approached Dev saab with the idea. He elaborated the plan extensively to him and explained why he wanted the song for his film. Dev saab was totally moved by his plan and instantly agreed to give him the rights of the song ‘Dum Maro Dum’. Surprisingly, he offered the song for remake without taking even a single penny for it.
It seems like an adorable blessing from the veteran star to the new age superstar Abhishek Bachchan. Originally, the song was picturised on the then sizzling actress Zeenat Aman, who debuted in Bollywood with this movie. It rocked the audience across the country and became a hit number. So, it will be a challenge for music director Pritam to present the remake version with the same charm for the youth of today.
Another challenge will be for the actress, who will feature in the song. It is not easy to recreate the charm of Zeenat Aman, who became an overnight star after this film. Leading ladies like Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone are being considered for the song and Deepika is said to be a hot favorite. However, there are very low chances of Deepika doing the song as she is not ready to do a cameo role.
Sippy is planning a hot video on the song, which will be contemporary that can be a representative of Gen-Next.
